about running...

I should probably explain more about the half marathon. I didn't just wake up one November morning and decide to sign up for one. Well, I kinda did, but there's more to it than that. Back in August,  I restarted c25k after like a 7 year hiatus. I was about nursing and getting older and tired of being lumpy. Being pregnant with twins really did a number on my body. There is a lot of loose skin.

Anyway. The first run was brutal (I think it was a minute of running then 90 seconds of walking for 8 sets). I was totally beat after, and couldn't even sleep that night because I was so achy!  I kept going though, and actually hit 5k about 8 weeks later. Pretty incredible, since I'm one of the least athletic people in the world. I ran a whole 5k race without having to walk. It was amazing and I felt awesome for finishing! After that race, I started working on c210k, but felt less motivated because I didn't have a race looming. I also got bronchitis and took a 2 week break. Oh, and I also threw my back out too, along with the bronchitis. It sucked.

While I was sick, I watched "Brittany Runs a Marathon" and it me extra emotional and inspired. Plus two of my friends had just run a half marathon. Feeling woozy with inspiration, I clicked on the half marathon button instead of the 7k button I originally intended to click on, and signed myself up for the 3/29/20 Love Run in Philly. Then I panicked. Then I googled. A lot. And came up with a plan. See picture below. My goal is to finish c210k in December and start half marathon training in January. I only have one week of wiggle room, so hopefully I don't get sick or throw out my back or something. Wish me luck!

I did Week 3 Day 1 of c210k yesterday (3 sets of 17 min runs). I did it! But I'm feeling dead. Did about 4.75 miles total. Hope the next run isn't as tough.
