Half Marathon, Anyone?

Remember how back in 2019, when I first started running, I watched "Brittany Runs a Marathon" and was SO stupid inspired that I signed up for the 2020 Love Run half in Philly. Well, we all know what happened in 2020. I thought I'd dodged a bullet, but it turns out my registration was deferred to 2022. Oops. So...uh
.....guess who went ahead and reregistered herself? Yup, this girl. Honestly? I'm not sure if I have it in me to run for 13.1 miles. This was a rough running week for me, so I'm feeling extra doubtful about myself. Also, when I first signed up back in 2019, someone said to me, "I've been running my whole life...what makes you think you can run a half??" I kinda just brushed it off at the time, but these words have been rattling around in my head a lot this past week. I mean, she's right...I didn't even start running 11 minute miles until this summer! Is that even considered "running"? WHO am I to think that I can even dare to consider attempting 13.1 miles? If you look up the word "notanathlete" in the dictionary, my picture would be right there! But you know what? Fuck that. I'm gonna do this. So what if I have to walk up that one big hill?! I guess I'll walk up that one big hill. And if I die while attempting this? At least my husband can engrave "Died while attempting half marathon" on my gravestone. I don't know about you, but I think that's a pretty badass thing to have on my grave marker 🤷🏻‍♀️. Blah. End of rant. Wish me luck, I'll definitely need it! I should probably go watch that stupid Brittany movie again too. 🤪🤪🤪

Also, I did 5 miles today. Maybe I'll do 6 next weekend.

I gained weight

Up to 140 lbs.  Thighs really rubbing on the run. I wanna get down to 130 but first I gotta stop eating oreos and froot loops from the drs lounge every day so I'm gonna start writing down everything I eat and then all my readers can judge me.  I have so many readers

Jane's fastest 5k!!!

Well, apparently that was my fastest 5k ever. Thought I might so 2 miles, but got to 2.5 and decided to just get to 5k. Nice day for a run, not too hot. So weird that less than 2 months ago, I was running 4 miles a few times a week!

2 miles

Well, it was hard, but I made it happen. There were a ton of people outside today, walking, talking, walking their dogs, and some just standing around. Made me super uncomfortable. Also, this old white dude gave me a dirty look while shaking his head. Not sure if he was mad at the crowd of people, me for running, me for being Asian, or life in general. Anyways. I hope I don't get covid from running outside.

1 mile

Thought it was going to start pouring...and was feeling lazy...so I quit and went home. Except, it never rained. Oops

2 miles

Nothing exciting, but at least I got out there. Thinking I should wear a mask next time. Lots of people hanging out

1 mile

Just one mile today. So tired. Been staying up late reading this book. Ugh. I typically only reas happily ever afters, but I feel like this book inusy finished wasn't really happily ever after! So now I'm a little upset. Plus the world is ending. And our medical personnel don't have masks! Ugh!!!!

2 miles...it was hard...

Almost a week since my last run. I think I'm getting bad at running again...today was rough. Oh well

2 miles.. avg 11:11 mile, WHAT?!?!?!

No idea how I managed that....and also, my second mile was 11:01!! WHAT???????? So crazy. That second cup of coffee really got me going today, I guess! Sheesh!

2 miles... avg 11:40 per mile

Kind of a big deal for me. I think I was doing a 15 minute mile when I first started.  Posting a pic of the very first time I ran last August. I think I'm improving! Right knee hurt a little though. Also, I wonder if I went faster today because I had 2 cups of coffee

First run on 8/15/19

Today's run (3/24/20...not too shabby!)

2 miles

So tired, but actually shaved 2 seconds off the time compared to my last 2 mile run. So many people outside hanging out....not seeing a ton of other runners tho. Just a few here and there. Hope it doesn't get so bad that they tell us not to run outside

fastest 2 miles ever!

But I must admit, the second mile was downhill.. still not bad tho, considering how I couldn't run at all back in August. Also, I can tell I'm going faster because I ran in my pink hoodie today and my phone kept falling out of my pocket! That didn't happen before at my more leisurely pace. I'm practically a cheetah at this point. I hope my phone isn't broken

2 miles

Beautiful day, despite the impending apocolypse. I'm just going to do short runs for the next couple of weeks...I don't want to get sick!

2.5 miles

Slowly trying to get back on track. Don't think I'll do the half at this point, but definitely need to figure out something for Broad St, which is 10 miles. Easy, right?

2 miles...

Went out for the first time in a week and half. Thanks, flu. So much for 10 miles last weekend. I barely got through 2 miles today, but they were my fastest ever, so I guess that's good. I don't think I'll be ready for the half, so maybe I'll change it to the 7.6k if it isn't canceled because of coronavirus. I did sign up for Broad St run though. We'll see.

4 miles

It was hard. Treadmills make running hard. On the bright side, I couldn't imagine running 4 miles on a weeknight, much less twice in a week, so that's some improvement!
